The unit behind your laser
This is the part of the cell nobody was given a manual for. It arrived with the machine, it was connected during installation, and from that point on it has been quietly deciding your cut quality, your consumable life and the air in your workshop.
Cartridge filters are a wear item. Pulse valves fail. Diaphragms rupture. Timer boards die. Door seals perish. None of it is exotic — all of it stops the laser when it is ignored long enough.
We look after that box, so you can get on with cutting.

Topsinn builds its fume and dust collection equipment in a number of series. If your unit carries a TODC, TOMJ, TODM or TOMC prefix, we can almost certainly help — send us the compliance plate photo and we will confirm.

Not sure which unit you have?
Photograph the compliance/rating plate on the side of the cabinet and the label on an old filter cartridge, and send them through. Or work through our TODC model reference -- counting the cartridges usually identifies the unit on its own. Those two images are almost always enough for us to identify the model and the correct filter without you pulling anything apart.
Why extraction faults cost more than they look
On a fibre laser the extractor is part of the cutting process, not a bolt-on. When filtration degrades, the symptoms show up on the parts before anyone looks at the dust collector:
- Smoke lingering in the cutting zone scatters the beam and degrades edge quality, particularly on thin stainless and aluminium.
- Reduced table draw lets dust settle on slats, bed rails and the underside of the sheet, causing part marking and tip-ups.
- Dust migration into the machine reaches linear rails, drag chains and the protective window on the cutting head — consumables you then replace far too often.
- Airborne particulate on the shop floor becomes a work health and safety exposure question you do not want to answer badly.
- A blinded filter with a labouring fan draws more current and shortens motor life, and a pulse system that cannot clean will destroy a new set of cartridges quickly.
Most of this is preventable with a filter change on a sensible interval and a working pulse-jet system. Both are cheap compared with the alternative.
Common faults we get called out to
- Loss of suction at the table or hood
- Differential pressure climbing and staying high
- Pulse-jet not firing, or firing continuously
- Solenoid or diaphragm valve failure
- No compressed air, or wet and oily air destroying cartridges
- Fan motor overload tripping
- Control panel faults and unresponsive timer boards
- Excessive noise, vibration or fan imbalance
- Dust bin seal leaks and housekeeping issues
- Filters blinding far sooner than they should
Whatever laser it is bolted to
Topsinn extraction units are fitted behind a wide range of imported plate and tube lasers sold in Australia. We do not care whose badge is on the machine — we look after the extractor.

Are you the Australian agent for Topsinn?
No. We are an independent service and parts business. We are not affiliated with, authorised by or endorsed by Topsinn, and we do not represent them. We service Topsinn equipment and supply replacement parts to suit it, in the same way an independent workshop services a car without being the dealer.
Are your filter cartridges genuine Topsinn parts?
We supply replacement cartridges built to suit Topsinn TODC units. Where a part is a genuine manufacturer item we will say so on the quote; where it is an equivalent aftermarket cartridge we will say that too, along with the media specification and dimensions. You will always know which one you are buying before you pay for it.
How quickly can you get filters?
It depends on the model and the current stock position, so we will give you a firm answer rather than an optimistic one when you enquire. Cartridge filters are a wear item with a predictable life — the single best thing you can do is hold one spare set on the shelf so a blinded filter never becomes a stopped machine. Do you travel outside Melbourne?
Parts are freighted anywhere in Australia. On-site attendance is arranged by region — tell us where you are and what the machine is doing and we will tell you honestly whether an on-site visit, a phone diagnosis, or a parts-and-instructions approach is the fastest way to get you cutting again.
Can you help if my extractor was supplied with the laser and nobody supports it?
That is most of our work. Extraction units are frequently supplied as part of a machine package and then orphaned when the dealer changes, loses interest, or has no parts backing. Send us photos of the rating plate and we will pick it up from there.
